The human presence has always been a sort of passionate, unquestioned subject matter for me through the past several years, which I have expressed mostly in a figurative manner. The occasional shift back and forth from a suggestive to a more specific depiction of the figure is necessary for me because it helps me understand the human experience in its totality.
Recently however, I have also found myself feeling the need to express the same intrinsic vulnerability of the human being through the deliberate absence of the figure. I have chosen instead, to speak of it through singular forms (such as a leaf, a candle, a chair etc.) that are very much a part of one's day to day experience and which in the end, symbolize 'an affirmation of being'.
